Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 : A Celebration of Art, Spirituality, and Cultural Dialogue
The Islamic Arts Biennale serves as a dynamic platform for fresh dialogue, fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic arts through learning, research, and creative exploration. It offers a rare opportunity for artists to engage with themes of spirituality, identity, and the intricate connection between the past and present. By encouraging cross-cultural exchanges, the Biennale enhances global appreciation for the rich artistic traditions and evolving narratives within Islamic art and culture.
Held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Arts Biennale is the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to Islamic art. Commissioned by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, Kate Dawkins Studio was honored to contribute to this prestigious event by creating a site-specific, immersive video installation for the Almadar Gallery.
Inspired by the Biennale’s central theme—"And All That Is In Between"—the exhibition presents a compelling visual interpretation through the universal, unspoken language of numbers. KDS crafted an intricate and elegant visual narrative that weaves together the vast expanse of the heavens and earth, the significance of numbers, the essence of objects, and the depth of artistic expression.
To enhance this experience, Dom was commissioned to compose a mesmerizing audio soundscape, designed to envelop visitors in a meditative atmosphere. His sound design harmonizes with the visuals, creating an immersive sensory journey that deepens the audience’s connection to the themes explored within the exhibition.
Through this innovative fusion of art, mathematics, and sound, the installation offers a profound exploration of existence, spirituality, and the interplay of structure and meaning—echoing the timeless beauty and complexity of Islamic art.
